Writing Bio

I have been writing most of my life, and have written short stories, novels, and poetry. I wrote a trilogy of fantasy novels when I was in my mid-late teens, and then a few standalones. I still have the manuscripts in a drawer. Since then I’ve worked on several more novels, a smattering of poetry, and I have a thriving daily journaling practice. I am constantly aiming to improve, and have returned to looking for representation in 2021.

Academically, I read for a BA (Hons) in English (1999-2002), including studying poetry with Carol Ann Duffy, and an MA in Creative Writing (2002-2006), both from Manchester Metropolitan University. During my Master’s degree, I studied publishing with Michael Schmidt and novel writing with Andrew Biswell.

Recently, I have discovered a love of writing book reviews. Given I am an avid reader, this fits me perfectly and I rather enjoy writing them. I publish my reviews on NetgalleyGoodreads, Amazon (UK and US), Waterstones, and occasionally on my blog.

Having tried many techniques over the years, I now write using Scrivener (synced across multiple Apple iOS devices), a few decent Moleskine journals, and my trusty Uni Kuru Toga pencils.

I’m also an Emerging Author member of the Society of Authors.
